Kerman province, in the south of Iran, is famous for its handicrafts (hand-woven carpets), agro and horticultural products (date and pistachio) and different kinds of pastries (‘Komaj’ and ‘Qovvatoo’).

Arg-e-Bam-Kerman

Up to 70% of Iran’s pistachio crop comes from this province, which has an ideal climate and soil for growing the nutty fruit.

Among the best regions in Kerman in which pistachio is cultivated are Rafsanjan, Robat, Ravar and Kerman itself and Tahrud village in Bam.

Rafsanjan is the first place in producing and exporting Iranian pistachio. Pistachios grown in Rafsanjan are especially famous , and completely identified as top quality pistachio in the world market.

Types of pistachio in Iran are Kal-e Ghoochi, Akbari, Badami, Fandoghi and Ahmad aghaee.
